So I delivered the guitars, he's taking both as I had hoped and I have a really great series of 11 photo's for you all. Pretty awesome really, the reaction I mean. We called Dennis Leahy as I was leaving and it great to have all who involved in this "set up" have a chance to share in the reaction.

My pictures are huge and I have a student coming to build in my shop in 5 minutes. I'll post them ASAP. Probably just before I have to go out and buy a copy of the new Twilight movie for the boss just after midnight tonight. The things we do right?

So here's the conversation. I first pull out the Walnut/ Lutz and say, "Here's the guitar I built with the wood Dennis donated."

Michael plays it for a while and I say, "Doesn't sound like walnut does it?" I'd tricked out my sides making them .092/.094 ish so they would actually hold some tone instead of let it all melt away and he say's, "No, this is amazing." Slap harmonics and glissandos with eye brows raised and heavy looks at me like he can't believe I built it, and then laughter; huge room filling, door crushing laughter! And then, I tell him the price... for both guitars.

"Are you kidding?"

He starts to play...and then

Tears.

He says, "This is a nice guitar Todd." He looks up through watery eyes and says,
Image
"Ive never had nice guitars," with big fat tears and awkward laughter.

After a few minutes of playing I open my shop case and pull out the Brazilian. He starts to tune and looks up at me with serious concern in his eyebrows silently saying,
Image
"What the F&%k is this Todd, what have you done now?!?!"

Image
"Holy Cows Todd, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!"

Image
"Listen to this!!!!"

Image
"Look at this!!!!"

Image
"Are you sure you want to do this?"

Image
"O.M.G!"... with room filling laughter.

It was a good day I think. Hope you all get a chance to have a few these days too.

All the best,

Todd

What a wonderful ending... and a wonderful beginning!

The emotions of the day will echo forever.

Michael now has some seriously awesome tools to inspire him, and you know for sure these guitars will inspire him. I swear, 500 years ago, Michaelangelo was not given tools of this magnitude by his patrons.

This is a wonderful and truly incredible thing you have done Todd!

You know Todd, I'm not so sure everyone immediately caught on that this guy named Michael G is Michael Gulezian, one of the finest fingerstyle players and guitar composers on the planet.

Wow! What a great photo essay, that was beautiful Todd!
Yeah, I was wondering about the odd tuner also?
