New Brown Mango Dread

OK, getting another one started. Actually started this one for the demo at the show a few weeks back.

I have had these two huge mango slabs sitting around for over a year, so figured it was time to chop them up and see what was inside of them.

These are consecutive cut slabs all the way through the log and are about 26 to 28" wide and about 9 feet long. Somewhere around 2 1/2" thick.

Now this is not at all like the lighter curly mango I got a few years back. This is more straight grained and has a nice browner heartwood. And a bit denser than the curly mango, more like dense koa.

I will be getting some more photos up as I proceed. The top for this is the one that I did in my "bracing pattern" thread. White spruce, looks like this:

I have the sides bent, but need to take a photo.

Here is the joined back.

Hey, that's pretty cool stuff!

Gonna scream with finish!

Are you gonna have your neighbor do this one with the fancy stuff, or...

Ain't that a fact :D I don't got no retirement fund. My wood stash is my retirement fund and I add to it every chance I get :D

Thanks for looking.

And E, ya i'm gonna go down the road when finish time comes around. That's gonna be my standard operating proceedure from here on out.
