Hey Ron,

I'm starting to get it. After you plane, sand, or scrape off the backing material you have the rope design on the side of the binding, right? From the top you get a checked binding. Going to be sharp, I need to try this, I love rope bindings, you often saw that on old "cowboy" guitars from the 30's.

Thanks,
Joe

ps. - You were going to show the tool you use to counter-sink your bridge holes. Just a reminder.

Hi Ron,

I'll bet that Tonya is breathing a big sigh of relief over that good news! 8-) 8-) I hope things continue to improve in the Economy.

So, you glue the Rope pattern onto a Maple carrier strip, cut it into strips, glue the strips into the Binding channel with the carrier strip (sacrificial) on the outside and when dry, Plane the carrier strip off and trim the Binding to size. Hey, that's a GREAT idea! Never would have thought to do that.

Keep it coming, Ron. I am enjoying seeing how you bring this thing together.

Gee Ron,

That inlay is going to look great! I don't know that I would be able to have a steady enough hand to rout out such a channel in an Ebony fretboard. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Them that can does, them that can't watches and drools. Drooll, drool!
