Finished! Burl Maple SG

Yes, it's true, not all guitars are acoustics; some have single coils and some have buckers, and all of those have some serious electrons. Build 'em, work on 'em, mods, questions, Put 'em here!

You're all sweeties :D -thanks for the kind feedback.

coopman asked about the electronics...fairly standard for this one (I have done some really weird and wonderful ones in the past - click to enlarge the wiring on this one http://www.ajrguitarmods.co.uk/ajr%20strat.htm  ). The SG is just straightforward humbuckers, not coil split, through a three way for neck, neck+bridge and bridge.

The pickups are a UK (I think) make - Tonerider Classic Alnico IV. I had used Toneriders on a strat in the past and the tone surpassed their price bracket. Then I was asked by a friend to fit some Tonerider Alnico IV humbuckers to a cheapo Les Paul copy (the guitar cost him around £50). They sounded GREAT. He also has a genuine Gibson Custom Les Paul and we did a side by side comparison. He said what I was thinking - that if he'd had the tonerider cheapo before, he wouldn't have needed to have bought the Gibson (which cost him £1500 second hand).

When it came to the SG, the fellow band member I am making it for was happy to pay for Gibson Burstbucker Pros (which I had once fitted to a Gibson LP Studio I used to play) - and they are great - but I suggested the Toneriders at significantly less than half the price. They sound great! (phew)

This is my rubbish playing through a small solid state vox into a pocket recorder, but hopefully gives an idea of the sound.

This is Clean (neck; neck+bridge; bridge): https://soundcloud.com/andy-rogers-6/sg ... eck-bridge

This is slightly overdriven: https://soundcloud.com/andy-rogers-6/bu ... -neck-neck

Thanks again all for your interest and feedback!
