Adding to the degree of difficulty, Joe? :)

Sure looks pretty when you told the wood which way you really wanted it to bend and got it in place!

That's a very attractive rosette and purfling/binding combination. Well worth the extra effort ;) .

Getting the neck underway.

Image
Glued up and trussrod slot routed.

Image
Walnut splines to reinforce the tenon.

I just got Jon Simpson's neck joint jig, so this is it's trial run.
Image
Routing the tenon on the neck with proper angle to fit the body.

Image
Finished tenon.

And this is the jig for routing the body mortise.

Image
And here's the mortise.

Goes together nice.

Going to be a guitar.

Coming along just great Joe. I really like the over look of this one, very balanced and a polished effort all round there fella.
Cheers

Thanks for checking it out Kim, this is my first dread build and I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to all the small body gits I usually build. :D

Image
Here's the neck joint after I've got holes drilled and hardware in place.

Image
Got the neck about 95% carved.

And started on the headstock overlay.
Image
Fretboard clamped into place for positioning headplate with a layer of plastic wrap to keep from gluing parts I don't want stuck.

Image
Black fish paper and curly maple overlay. Angle sanded into nut end of headplate.

Image
All glued and clamped into place

Image
Trimmed up and sanded.

All for now,
Joe

Looks great-I had mentioned I wanted the top stained a darker color-but I think we should leave it as is-any thoughts?

Wow, you don't even need 3-D glasses for that headplate. Sweet!
