Sides bent and placed. I still have to finish the mold insert and toppers but like everything else in the shop things are moving ahead.

So I finished the side bender mold and rebuilt my side bender to fit my KR bending slats. And it looks pro now, rather then just thrown together.

I had to fill some holes in the sides to get them ready to bend.

Sanded them to thickness and put them in the Brazilian Hot Tub for 6.5 hours (J. Traugott trick).

Precooked for 5 and then bent and cooled for 15.

Then I clamp in the side and straight edge the center line. Cut the waste at the band saw and sand straight. ONce I'm on line I'll fit and sand the second side to fit.

I'm ready to block.

Back done and ready to glue. Just have to re-rosette a top since I poached the one for this build for the guitar I donated to the Hospital Auction.

Now that my mold tops are done I can get back to work. I pre-routed my shapes in my molds and glued on my kerfing with some help from Ian. He wiped away the dust!! Not the neck I'm going to use on this guitar. It's a scrap neck that Ian "builds" every time he come to help. It's like his security blanket in the shop.

With the kerfing in I go back to the molds and route my back radius (built into the mold top) and then route my top level and fall away (also built into the mold top.)

And I glued on the back for fun.

Yeah thanks Dennis, and it is!!!

I made the mistake yesterday of tapping on the sides and nearly lost an ear drum!!!! The sides!! Sides aren't supposed to do that. Nearly done with the rosette, waiting on more purfling.

Todd, When you get some time could you explain how you build the radius into the mold? Do you cut the taper in and then take it to a radius sanding dish to set the radius? The one problem I seem to have with taking the rim to a sanding dish is getting it consistent and even especially when you have a armrest and ribrest and deep neck block. The side without the extra wood of the rest wants to sand faster then the the side with the the wood for obvious reasons. So I am again intrigued with this. :)
