Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

I have the first one strung up. After I get all of the photos sorted, I will post the process. Still need different bridge pins, lower the action, end pin, clean up the finish, and a few minor things and adjustments. Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

I nave been negligent in keeping up my posts. I have photos of everything and will post the process once I get them organized. In the meantime, here are a few photos of where I am at, Danny is about at the same point with his. IMG_7638.JPG IMG_7641.JPG IMG_7647.JPG IMG_7648.JPG IMG_7649.JPG g

Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

Yes, I thought that might be the case. But like I said, yours is more better, and definitely more cheaper! Those tuners—kudos! Steve Steve, I did some more checking. The Depaule rosette has an inside diameter of 4.25". The OUTSIDE diameter of the rosette on the guitars I am replicating is 4.18...

Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

Holy. Cow. Totally in awe of your work, Grant! Andy DePaule Carrie’s something similar to your rosette: B0ACFCEC-605E-439B-9B72-E6CD96C33812.png But I like yours better! Steve Thanks, Steve. Havve not seen that. g Edit. I just checked and it is not the correct size. Plus I don't need the pearl ring...

Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

Taking a much needed break from the metal working. I will be posting the fabrication of the Stauffer style turners as a separate thread as soon as I get all of the photos organized. In the meantime, I glued together the top plates and started working on the soundhole rosette. Martin guitars from the...

Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

I realize I am getting ahead of myself, and I will go back and show the process, But here is a test fit of all of the parts, minus gears and tuning buttons. The one string post ended up a little short, hence the bushing. I found some .1406" diameter brass rod (same size as the worm gear shafts)...

Re: Going to build a new "old" guitar

OK, about ready to begin assembling the tuners. First, I am making most of the parts from scratch. I will be using the gears from a cheap set of tuners ($12). IMG_7474.JPG But, the main reason for using these is that they are easy to disassemble. I will only be using the parts on the right. IMG_7475...
