Re: New Brown Mango Dread
And they sure look better than a 401K these days. :D Joe Ain't that a fact :D I don't got no retirement fund. My wood stash is my retirement fund and I add to it every chance I get :D Thanks for looking. And E, ya i'm gonna go down the road when finish time comes around. That's gonna be my standard...

New Brown Mango Dread
OK, getting another one started. Actually started this one for the demo at the show a few weeks back. I have had these two huge mango slabs sitting around for over a year, so figured it was time to chop them up and see what was inside of them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/whitespruce/guitar...

Re: My "Back Yard" build
I second that - Lets do it, that WAS cool and fun and as the year slows it's a great time, and in keeping with the shitty economy, too! :D Grant, would you post up some rules, and I'll make a forum for it and let's rock! I got some cool prizes in mind for this already; tops, bandsaw blades, tools, ...

Re: My "Back Yard" build
Well, ya, that whole concept was my idea. And I gotta be honest with you that it was not appreciated where I first proposed it because it didn't "sell expensive wood". Was kinda talked about as "building with junk rather than real tonewood". However, I still think it is an intere...

Re: My "Back Yard" build
Very nice Grant. Is Sumac soft or hard? Makes such a great rosette I'm wondering... How would it do as a binding? Raymond It is not real hard, but I am going to use it as binding anyway. Hey, I gotta take a few more photos and edit some already in the computer before I post. Did not get that done t...

Re: Mr.Z's 12 string
Looking good Z, won't be long now. I went to LMI and they have 3 dread plans, a 6 and 12 by Scott Antes, and a Martin Herringbone dread plan by Don MacRostie. There aren't any pictures and I don't want to get a plan for one of those boxy dreads. Which plan are you using? Thanks, Joe Joe, I have all...

Grant's Back Yard Build
Well, I had this started on the other place, but it was not all done. So I am going to post up the photos and stuff that I had up to about mid Summer, and then get on with finishing it here. I have been doing a bit more on this one lately and should soon have it done. This is my attempt to demonstra...

Re: Mango and bearclaw....
Holy guacamole, batman! Hey, Brian, let's see that Mango matched the other way (fiddleback at the seam and gray/spalt to the outer edges.) Looks like you'd get considerably more flame figure within the pattern that way. (I'm living vicariously) Dennis Well, I was going to suggest the same thing, un...
