Re: Ladder Braced Birch

No, don't stain it Joe, I think the whole look now is superb, let the wood be itself. Oh and yes every time I use Gary's jig, I do a little dance of delight, we were very lucky to be in the right place at the right time when he made those.

Keep it up Joe, you know you're one of my heroes.

Re: Ladder Braced Birch

Love the blonde look Joe. Is this going to have a tailpiece or fixed bridge, I know you do both?

Re: Documenting my first total thermally modified build

Grant, as ever a joy to watch your guitars come together, and a real learning process for the rest of us. No one could ever accuse you of building Martin clones!

Re: 2 new bar fret guits

Grant, this is a real treat of a build thread. I particularly like the second set of cocobolo, can't use it myself due to allergy, one deep regret. The bark rosettes, as others have said, look superb, I like the way that the 'figure' in the bark is angled with respect to the top grain, a particular ...

Re: L-1 Gibson Build

Joe great looking little guitar, and of course with you it's never boring, I'd be interested to hear how the bracing sounds. Oh and it's a custom guitar so there's no rule that says you have to use the same wood B&S. So sorry to here about your wife's dementia, it's never easy for the carer eith...

Joe, I've never built a dred, but if I had I'd like it to be just like this one!

Re: Retop; This Ain't No Vintage Martin!

Joe, what a great guitar brought back to life in your hands. Now you've got to name it Irene in honour of Huddie J Leadbetter's heroine. If BB King can have his Lucille, then you can have your Irene.

Re: Retop; This Ain't No Vintage Martin!

Joe, that's looking great, I'm glad you're going with the Sustaire bracing, it just 'looks right' doesn't it, and you say a floating bridge so are we going to get another one of those 'vintage' looking tailpieces? Can't wait to hear Goodnight Irene on it. By the way the Venere is ladder braced, so m...
