Re: Documenting my first total thermally modified build

Grant,

I like it all. Nice to see your selection process and the headplate overlay looks like flames! Nice!

Re: Boycote / lutz build - Builder exchange

Joe,

So sorry to hear about Patty. I can only imagine... In our mid (Audrey) to late (me) 70s it is what we both fear.

So difficult, but do try to be kind to yourself as well as to Patty.

You're both in my prayers.

Re: Organic Soundports

Man, Grant! You really have your theme complete throughout. Funky and beautiful. If you sell it, don't do so before Stringfest, which is already on my 2013 calendar. You should then find someone who will understand what you have done and will thus treasure it and care for it.

Re: New Cocobolo Jumbo

I don't have any of the cute brass planes like you made (hmmmmm... Harbor Freight sells a 3-pice set of them for cheap. I wonder if those and better steel for the blade would be worth the trouble...) Dennis Dennis, The Harbor Freight mini-planes don't need a better blade for brace work. I find them...

Re: Organic Soundports

Well, to see Grant Goltz try this should give the rest of hope in trying to "fix" wood. The sides are wonderful!

Actually, though, I think you've really lost it

Re: Grange Floor Mandolins

A long while ago, I joked that if a dancer had to have a leg amputated, he or she should donate the bone to a luthier for use as saddles and nuts. Of course, it was tongue-in-cheek, sorta. Talk about mojo! Dennis That's really funny, Dennis! But, Mike, ARE there any soon-to-be deceased dancers from...

Re: L-1 Gibson Build

Joe,

It was hard for you to tell us and also hard for us to read. Be a good caregiver, take breaks whenever you can, and keep us posted. As you said, at least you have your guitar playing to comfort you.

All the best,

Jim
