I wanna hear it to. I don't have a good enough ear to hear when I'm playing it. Besides a good sounding guitar still sounds bad when you don't know how to play.

Oh man... Hey - Over trial and error, I don't ever use shim stock thicker than .010", and as you noted, you can and should see them sag as they get plastic, and be able to feel what the wood is doing as you bend - I do think that's critical. E Ordered the Shim Stock today... Don't remember who...
I need to start writing it down, but I think it was just a touch over 0.090. I remember it was very hard to even flex the short straight section on the pipe (between 2 cracks).
