Re: My first commission (Kelley's Guitar)

Thanks Lefty.

I wanna hear it to. I don't have a good enough ear to hear when I'm playing it. Besides a good sounding guitar still sounds bad when you don't know how to play.

My first commission (Kelley's Guitar)

I handed this off to Kelley's husband right before leaving to go on vacation. While on vacation this forum was born. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/feissli/Kelley/August15005.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/feissli/Kelley/August15004.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/f...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak

The Back - After using a shooting board and No. 6 stanley to get a tight joint, I use the tape joining method I learned from Steve Stevens. Gets me a clean tight glue joint every time. tape the back together stretching each piece of masking tape across the joint. You should be able to feel the tape...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak

Sorry Ray, I was trying to let ya in on a secret without trying to be too pushy. I know some rosewoods with alot of oils may bend ok at .085 or .090 but most wood likes to be down around .082" for good bending and cutaways will require around .078 this is my experience todate. Padauk is a very...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak

Assembling the Rim - I really like the way that Steve Stevens uses his Versa Vice to hold the neck block while he clamps the sides to the neck block. So I went out and bought a Versa Vice of my own awhile back. However, until I actually take it out of the box and mount it to the table :( I have to ...

Re: Curly Maple Cutaway for Debbie

Oh man... Hey - Over trial and error, I don't ever use shim stock thicker than .010", and as you noted, you can and should see them sag as they get plastic, and be able to feel what the wood is doing as you bend - I do think that's critical. E Ordered the Shim Stock today... Don't remember who...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak

Tim,

I need to start writing it down, but I think it was just a touch over 0.090. I remember it was very hard to even flex the short straight section on the pipe (between 2 cracks).

Thanks for watching.
