Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Thanks guys. I think Olivia is pleased, but she's mostly pleased that I'm finally finishing it. Not that she is anxious to play it or anything. She just didn't like that Ben's was done and her's wasn't. I let Olivia choose a lot of the bling, so I know she'll like how it looks. Too big and he...

Re: Curly Maple Cutaway for Debbie
Finally got the finish applied and polished, removed the masking from the fretboard, neck, and bridge areas, glued the neck and fretboard on and used my jig to locate the bridge. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/feissli/Debbie%20M/OliviasGuitar4.jpg I then located and marked the bridge pin ho...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Well, it didn't get done before Christmas, but I did make quite a bit of progress. I did put the last coat on this one and another at the end of November and set them aside to cure for 10 days. About 20 days later  I started the polishing. I'm working on 2 at the same time so it took a few day...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Hi Steve. October was the wettest on record, and it has only gotten below 60% relative humidity 5 days since we got back with most days over 70%. Even so, I'm putting what I hope are the last coats of Varnish on tonight. Then it's sit and wait for 10 days before polishing and buffing. Hopefully she'...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
There are apparently quite a few (over 300) and Ian (the groom) has walked them all.

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Since the Kilt was a rental, and since there is no Feissli tartan, Brenda went with Gordon which is her father's first name. It was supposed to match the swath that Olivia had around her waist, but I thought the pattern was different. They told me what Ben was wearing, but I forget. It might be one ...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Thanks Steve. I gave the varnish to a guy who does simple woodworking projects with kids. It's waterbased and is supposed to have a retarder in it to allow brush strokes to flow out. It seems to work well on bare wood, just not very well from the second coat and on, which the kids won't do anyway. I...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Thanks Joe. Yes I did enjoy Scotland in spite of having to wear a Kilt for my Sister Inlaw's wedding. Even my son had to wear one. Never thought I'd hear my son ask me why I was making him wear a skirt... http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/feissli/Misc/BrotherandSisterInlaw.jpg http://i122.phot...
