Re: My first electric
Thanks Eben. In looking up your references it appears that a Strat had the neck pickup directly under the 24th fret, but 'some newer models have it a fraction of an inch closer to the bridge.' Any opinions on the difference in sound? Anyone have any idea how much a fraction of an inch is? I also cou...

My first electric
I have a customer who wants a flying V with a neck like a PRS, dragon on the fretboard and pick-ups like a Texas Special Strat. I have the neck and body shape laid out and even have the dragon inlaid fretboard, but I have never done an electric before and was wondering about the placement of the pic...

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Thanks guys.
I made up the label awhile back and chose the date on the label because that happens to be her birthday... years from now she'll notice it was her birthday and nobody will remember that the guitar wasn't done by then.

Not alot to the soundport for me, Dennis. My Grandfather on my mother's side was decendent from the samurai and our family crest was 9 circles, 8 surrounding a larger one in the middle. I drew it out on paper to get the scale and then marked it out on the rim. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274...

Looking good Z.
How did you cut out the soundport? Did you reinforce the area any?

Re: Olivia's Pink Paduak
Upper bout - 10"
Waist - 8 3/4"
Lower bout - 14 1/2"
Body Length - 19"
I'm pretty sure Steve took the upper bout from a standard Parlor shape and the lower bout from his mid-sized Gibson L1 / L2.

Re: Curly Maple Cutaway for Debbie
I like to fit the top and back to the rim before I glue either on, so while it's still in the form I mark the braces and cut the slots. This one is getting a sound port as well so I only want to glue the top on before I do the port. I glued the top on while it was still in the form. http://i122.phot...
