Well, I promised photos, so here are a couple after the "OK for now" French polish and neck finish.

The top and the neck

The neck is Tru-oil

I plan on gluing on the neck today and I will have it strung up tomorrow. In time to play a bit before the Stringfest.

I will post more photos when it is finished.

BTW, This IS finished. We were playing it yesterday afternoon after we got home from the cooking demo. E said "don't never sell this one". And he said it is "in your face" loud. Big voice for such a small critter :D

Hi Grant,

I guess you don't need to be told how cool this build is, but I will anyway. I was researching V-neck joints and discovered this beauty. I would think that this is going to remain a personal instrument with all the work you've put into it.

One question regarding the neck joint. Is there a particular thickness to leave the end of the main neck blank in order to carve a volute to match an original neck?

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks for the kind words, Mark.

On this one I left the end of the neck blank 1 1/4" thick, which just squeaked by. 1 3/8" would have been a more comfortable thickness.

Yes, I plan to hang on to this one at least until I make another. Hard to discourage folks from wanting it, though :D

Man, oh man, you don't take the easy route, Grant! And what a beauty! Hope to see some all-done pics.

Brilliant work, Love to see more photos!

Are the plans for the 2-27 model available? I have a mold I made years ago from photos in a book but I was way off with the shape, I have the scott Antes parlour plans but need more precise details to get the shape and bracing right,
