How'd I miss this?

We already got enough threads that I'm missing cool stuff?

Sheesh!

Nice axe, Joe!

Joe,

Great looking guitar! Understated elegance. And, I love your label!

Joe, that is one dandy little geetar. I love everything about it. Where would a guy get plans for a parlor?

Glad you like it Chuck, I'm pretty pleased with it.
I don't know what plans are available, I just drew up a shape that I liked, inspired by those curves in the pinch-waisted curves of those guitars from the 20's and 30's, and then adapted kind of a standard x brace pattern since most parlors are ladder braced. Next time I will probably lighten up the bracing a bit. This was the first top I thicknessed with my drum sander and got a little carried away, If I remember right, it got down below 0.010" at it's thickest point. :D

I can make a drawing of the body shape and bracing for you if you want.

Really nice work, Joe!

As a parlor builder myself, I love to see others building these little beauties. You seem to have advanced very quickly, which is a
good kick-in-the-pants for me to spend more time in the shop!!

I wouldn't worry about a top thickness of .010 on a small bodied instrument like that - adequately braced, you shouldn't have any
problems, and it looks like you have a good-sized bridge plate on there.

How did you finish this one??

Bill

P.S. - I REALLY like your label!! - you seem to have a sense of humor kinda like mine - a bit sly and self-deprecating ;)

Thanks Bill, the top is sealed with shellac, and then I used a tung oil finish over the whole thing.

NIce one Joe!!!

I'm just getting caught with everything that has been going on here. I'm glad you like the spokeshave. It looks like it turned out well for you. I'm also very fond of your label. A nice personal touch. Do you have a photo of the real resined up dungarees you could show?

And how did it end up sounding compared to your ladder brace cousins, the guitar that is not the dungarees?
