Well, I'm going to stare at your photos for a while, and try to visualize the process. So far, that part of my brain that says, "this is easy" is not activated. I wonder if this is one of those things each one of us has to do with our own hands to "imprint" the process on our brains.

Beautiful laminated neck sandwich. Did you rough-up the roller to accept more glue?

Yeah the glue roller only "rolls" when it's rubber on wet glue. When I forget to wipe off the glue and it dries, I just slide around like city folk driving in the country during a Minnesota snow. So I sand off all the glue and start fresh every time. You have to wipe fast, within seconds (it seems) of finishing the application. I placed my clamps on the neck (all 20 something) and went back to wipe off the glue and was too late. So I'll have to sand, again, next time.

My guestion would be...how do you keep your glued up neck stack stable while you get it clamped up.

If I tried that it would be like the old Paul Simon song, "Slip Slidin' Away."

Tite Bond original. The versions 2 and 3 are too viscus and slide like crazy. So I do half at a time. And then quick clap the 1st half to tack while I do the other half. Then when I'm ready to combine I start at corner A (if you think of the rectangle 4 corners A-D) and softly clamp. Just enough pressure to grab but not squeese. Then I do the same on corner C (opposite end opposite side), like doing lug nuts when changing a tire. Then B, then D and finally I go back to A and tighten to "clamp" rather then to "hold" from slipping.

I also over size my material by about a 3/16-1/4 of an inch so I can go back and plane/joint it to where I need it to be. That way you can slip all you want to (both expected and unexpected) and your fine in the end. You just have to build in your room for error. I should be out building tonight so look for new posts tomorrow or so.
