Re: Ladder Braced Grand Concert, Build #7

Thanks Steve and Ian for the kind comments, and no I have no sound clips. I'm pretty techno challenged, don't even have a smart phone...……...

Re: Ladder Braced Grand Concert, Build #7

Not a problem Ian, it's nice to go back and check out your old builds. I often have to do that to see what/how I did things since I do tend to change things up. The top did sink a bit under the floating bridge on this one after a couple of years, but it has been stable since and hasn't sunken anymor...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String

Thank you for the great compliments my friends, means a lot coming from you guys! And yeah, John J. that finish level is a bit beyond my usual...….. but don't worry, it's still far from what the glass showcase guys want, I think I could live with it...…. And thanks Brian! Yeah I like the old cellulo...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String

Thank you John and Dennis! String spacing like everything else I do is pretty much a seat-of-the-pants deal. Basically I will mark the outside string positions and then use the graduated string rule from Stewmac to lay out the other strings. Of course you have to do it twice working from each end to...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String

Thanks John, and yeah I think I like the Qualasole. Okay, I think I'm done! It's all back together, strung up and all the set-up work done. Playing and sounding good...….I may have to keep it...….. maybe I can talk my nephew into waiting for the next one, ha! IMG_2623.JPG - IMG_2624.JPG - IMG_2625.J...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String

Hey John, I'm just padding it on very similar to French polishing but I'm not using any oil, just the qualasol. No odor that I've detected just using it, so I'm very pleased, dries very quick and builds up quickly..... Dennis, as to how many coats, I'm not sure as I just work around the guitar as I ...

Re: Indian Rosewood low-tuned 12 String

Okay, I've been in the finishing process...…. my favorite, ha! IMG_2612.JPG - Here's the box with the color tone black pore fill from stu-mac - - - IMG_2614.JPG - And here it is sanded back. I just did one pore fill, should have probably done another because it still shows some open pores, but hey, ...
